AUFTRAG Members Lead Butuan Bay Participatory Resource and Social Assessment Project

Two AUFTRAG members served Mindanao by way of leading the IFAD and DA-BFAR funded project in Butuan Bay. Dr. Ruby Castrence-Gonzales is the Project Leader and at the same time the task leader of the socio-economic and cultural component. As project leader, she facilitates and involves in the field activities with her 23 colleagues and nine research assistants. With a huge responsibility placed upon her shoulders, she draw her strength, knowledge, wisdom and guidance from the ultimate giver of all, the Almighty GOD.  Another AUFTRAG member, Ms. Aida Dadole-Perpetua leads the Policy and Institutional Characterization component of the project.  She is also actively involved in the socio-cultural component and together with Dr. Gonzales, they have conducted focus group discussions, household interviews, key informant interviews and courtesy calls to all local government units both in the coastal barangays and municipalities bordering the bay. Together, the two alumni has put into practice what they have learned in Germany spreading ripples of hope in the coastal ecosystems and making a difference in the lives of the marginal fishermen .
